Create Lists of Potential Add-Ons

Most of Venturelytic's private equity client's are continuously sourcing new add-on acquisitions to strengthen already acquired platform companies in their portfolio. Venturelytic helps your identify and link new add-on opportunities to existing platform companies. To build up a list of potential add-ons for your platform company, take the following steps:

  1. Build up a database of Accounts by a) connecting Venturelytic to your preferred database, b) by leveraging Chrome, LinkedIn and other extensions to automatically create new records, c) mass import a large dataset containing Accounts, or d) create Accounts manually whenever you come across them.

  2.  Once you have a list of Accounts, you can apply filters to narrow down your list of potential add-on acquisitions. Examples of filters you could apply can be "Industry", "Employees", "Address" or "Annual Revenue". Make sure these are fields on your Account record so you can actually select them. Next, add thresholds to narrow down your list even further.

  3. Did you know you could also use Salesforce Topics here to make your search very specific? In the example below, we specifically look for Accounts that have something to do with "Payments"

  4. Make sure to save your list of filters, after which the system will show you all the records that match your criteria. In this case, it were Adyen and Apple that had "Payments" assigned as topic on their Account level.

  5. Now, the magic happens. You can select as many Accounts you want and link them all in once to your platform company. First finalize your selection.

  6. Then, click on the Add to Related Accounts button on the top right hand side of your list view. Note: if this button isn't available to you, please contact your administrator or Venturelytic support, as both will be able to make this button visible to you. Next, select your platform company in the form of an Investment Monitoring record. Then, select the type of relationship these Accounts with get with your Investment Monitoring record. In this case, these are potential add-ons.

  7. The system will ask you whether you want to perform a mass action on the selected records. Once clicking on "OK", you'll receive a confirmation message.

  8. Your end result can be found in the Investment Monitoring record. Once navigating to that record, you'll find your add-on targets listed in the Related Account list under the Related tab. From here, you can initiate a new Investment Opportunity for each of the add-on targets once you decided to reach out.
