Data Import Wizard Tutorial
Prepare the file you want to import. For more information on how to do this, see: https://trailhead.salesforce.com/content/learn/modules/lex_implementation_data_management/lex_implementation_data_import
In this tutorial we want to import the following account and contact details:
Navigate to Setup
From Setup, type Data Import Wizard in the Quick Find box on the left
Scroll down on the Data Import Wizard page and click on “Launch Wizard” to start
Select Accounts and Contacts as type of data you’re importing, since external information will often be imported into these two objects of Venturelytic
Click on “Add new records”. Since our example file contains Accounts and Contacts that aren’t in the system yet.
Select the record type “Venture”, in case you’re importing ventures. Select “investor” or “other” in case you’re importing these type of accounts.
Save your file as a .CSV, either comma separated or tab separated and upload the file
The Wizard will ask you to map the columns to the specific Salesforce Object. For the ones that it didn’t match automatically, manually assign these to the right objects.
Example of how the CSV header “Company” is matched by it Salesforce peer, called Account Name
Once all fields are mapped, proceed with “Next” and “Start Import”.
Once the import is finished, you’ll be directed to the details of this so-called Bulk Data Load Job. In this case, it says the amount of records failed is zero, indicating a successful import.
Once you switch to lighting experience again via the top header, you’ll be redirected to the Venturelytic environment.
Once back in our own environment, we’ll see that the accounts have been added successfully, with the right Name, accompanying Contact (under Related), Industry and TRL.
